MTC T-Slot Clamps

Mold clamping system

The single-acting MTC clamps can be used on non-standardized backplates. The difference between the MTC T-slot clamp and the MHC & ECA clamps is that the latter require a slot in the die.

The MTC can be moved manually to the die in the T-slot because the cylinders are equipped with a T-stone slide mechanism in the T-slot.

The single acting hydraulic MTC T-slot clamps are widely used in QDC applications.
Available with 15, 30, 45 and 70 kN clamping forces at 350 bar (5000 psi) and with a clamp stroke of 8 mm, and 12 mm for the largest model.
Suitable for 200 °C because the cylinders are fitted with a Viton seal as standard.

KEY POINTS MTC

  • single acting hydraulic die clamp;
  • suitable for non-standardized backplates;
  • easy to move in T-slot;
  • suitable for temperatures up to 200 °C.

OPERATION

MTC cylinders both have one oil connection to provide hydraulic power in one direction. Once under pressure, the cylinder pushes the piston against the die and clamps it. When the pressure is released, the built-in spring returns the piston to its original, unclamped position. The MTC clamps are manually moved to the die in the T-slot. Thanks to their large clamping stroke, these cylinders are suitable for use with backplates of various thicknesses.

Application of the MTC T Slot Clamps

On common SMW applications with non-standard backplates, four (or more) of these clamps are mounted on the moving slide of the press, and four (or more) on the die holder. For safety reasons, the cylinders on the slide plate are connected to two hydraulic circuits and all cylinders on the die holder are usually connected to one hydraulic circuit. It is also possible to use only one hydraulic circuit on the slide side and then double the circuit using the EAS double check valve EDCV-1, which is mounted on the slide.

MTC The MTC can be moved manually to the die in the T-slot because the cylinders are equipped with a T-stone slide mechanism in the T-slot.
