MHC pull clamp cylinders

Mold clamping system

The MHC pull clamp cylinders help increase productivity and reduce downtime. More capacity within smaller dimensions, also suitable for non-straight mold surfaces.

In order to be able to use the clamps safely and easily even in hard-to-reach places, EAS offers two types of T-slot pulling cylinders for metal stamping machines: The MHC are pulling cylinders, just like the ECA clamps. If more constant pressure is required, the double acting cylinder series MOD, MPR or the tilt clamp series MSR is recommended.

OPERATION

The MHC and the ECA both have one oil connection to provide hydraulic power in one direction. Once under pressure, the cylinder tightens the rod and T-nut. When the pressure is released, the built-in spring pushes the plunger back to its original unclamped position. Both pull clamps are manually moved to the die in the T-slot. Thanks to their large clamping stroke, these cylinders are suitable for use with backplates of various thicknesses.

FEATURES MHC

These single acting hydraulic hollow ram or pull cylinders are widely used in SMW applications on stamping machines. Thanks to their larger clamping stroke, the single-acting MHC pull cylinders are suitable for use with backplates of various thicknesses. The ECA clamps can be used in a wider temperature range and have a greater capacity when it comes to clamping force. Although the MHC is slightly more compact, it can still be seen as the big brother of ECA, for heavier applications.

For standard SMW operations, the ECA clamps are a good choice. The ECA has a wider temperature range than the MHC and also has more capacity when it comes to clamping force. For heavier work, the MHC pull clamp cylinders are a better option. Both pull clamps are manually moved to the die in the T-slot. Thanks to their large clamping stroke, these cylinders are suitable for use with backplates of various thicknesses.

  • operating pressure 350 bar (5000 psi);
  • temperature range 6°C to 60°C;
  • tension force: 44, 68, and 116 kN;
  • Clamping stroke 12 mm.

Key points MHC

  • single acting hydraulic SMW clamp;
  • heavy duty version;
  • suitable for straight and non-flat surfaces;
  • user-friendly and easy to move, even for non-standardized backplates.

PARKING STATIONS FOR PULL CLAMP CYLINDERS

To store your MHC or ECA cylinder somewhere during the mold change, EAS recommends the PSL parking stations. Parking stations on a die press make your hoses and cylinders last longer. The EAS parking spaces are also available with a built-in non-return valve.

STANDARD USE

The hollow piston cylinders are manually placed in the T-slot, in the direction of the die, both on the press table of the die holder and on the (upper) sliding table. A U-shaped opening is provided in the back plate with which the back plate can be clamped firmly to the press table.
